Use Memory to guide Ampere

Approve the rules, facts and preferences Ampere follows in every session, and change or remove them whenever you need to.

Last verified 1 day ago

Memory holds the rules, facts and preferences people approve for Ampere to follow in every session. Use it for anything you're tired of repeating, such as "Never use emojis on LinkedIn," so your whole team's work follows it without anyone saying it again.

Each entry is a Memory item: one short line of one kind.

KindWhat it isExample
RuleSomething to always or never doNever use emojis on LinkedIn.
FactSomething true about the business, until an end date if you set oneOur spring sale ends May 30.
PreferenceHow someone likes things doneI like short subject lines.

Memory is separate from Brand memory, which is what Ampere knows about your brand and market and has its own Brand section on the Memory page. It's also separate from a Project's files and brief. A Memory item guides how Ampere works. It doesn't change who can do what, what needs approval, or when anything runs.

How items get into Memory

There are two ways:

  • Say it in a session. When you tell Ampere something that should last, it follows it for the rest of that session and suggests it for Memory. The suggestion waits for review, and only that session follows it until it's approved.
  • Add it yourself. Add an item on the Memory page, and it applies right away.

Review what's waiting

Approved items are listed in the middle, and suggestions wait in the panel on the right.
  1. Select Memory in the sidebar. A number beside it shows how many suggestions are waiting for you.
  2. Open Instructions. Waiting for review lists each suggestion and where it came from, such as "Suggested Nov 2 from what Maya Chen said."
  3. Select a suggestion, or select Review all to go through them one at a time.
  4. Select Approve so Ampere follows it in every session it applies to, or Reject to turn it down. To change the wording first, select Edit, make your change, and approve it.

Each decision offers Undo right after you make it.

Each suggestion shows where it came from and when it will be approved if nobody reviews it.

When nobody reviews a suggestion

Unless your Organization changes this, a suggestion nobody reviews is approved after 3 days. Only suggestions from someone's own words or edits settle this way. The rest wait for a person.

Owners and Admins can change this under Suggestions nobody reviews, in the Waiting for review panel:

  1. Select Change, then turn Settle them automatically on or off.
  2. Choose Approve or Reject.
  3. Choose how many days to wait, from 1 to 14.

Items that settled this way stay listed in the panel for 14 days, and you can undo any of them to put it back in review.

Add, change, or remove an item

  1. On the Instructions page, select Add a rule.
  2. Choose the kind and write the item. A fact can have an end date.
  3. Choose where it applies:
    • The Organization: every session.
    • A Project: sessions in that Project.
    • A channel: work for one platform, or for one account on it.
    • Only you: your own sessions.
  4. Select Save.

To change or remove an item, hover over its row and select Edit or Remove. Removed items appear under Removed, where Restore brings them back.

Memory can't hold passwords, keys or other secrets, or card or bank account numbers. If an item includes one, leave it out and try again.

Who can see and change items

  • Everyone in your Organization can see every item except other people's personal ones.
  • Only the person who owns a personal item can change it.
  • Owners, Admins, and Members can review, add, change, and remove all the others. Viewers can read them.

When a request goes against an item

If you ask for something an item rules out and don't say whether it's a one-off, Ampere asks you once before doing it:

  • Follow the rule: Ampere keeps to the item.
  • Just this time: Ampere does it your way once and leaves Memory as it is.
  • Change the rule: Ampere does it your way and suggests changing the item, so your team can review the change.
