Which AI Tools can be scheduled

Understand when the Schedule option appears for an AI Tool and what to do when it is missing.

Last verified 1 day ago

The Schedule option appears on AI Tool and workflow run forms that support recurring saved runs. Scheduling is for catalog AI Tools and workflows, not for recurring Joule automations.

Schedulable AI Tools show a Schedule action next to Run Tool on the authenticated catalog playground.

If you do not see Schedule, the current item, state, or workspace may not support scheduling from that page.

Where scheduling appears

Open an AI Tool or workflow and fill in the required inputs. When scheduling is enabled for that run form, the form shows a Schedule action near the run action.

Ampere opens a Schedule Task dialog only after the inputs are valid enough to save for a recurring run.

What can be scheduled

Schedulable items are catalog tools or workflows that can rerun from saved input data. A scheduled task stores the tool/workflow identity, input data, schedule timing, timezone, and lifecycle controls such as maximum runs.

Schedules can be hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. The current default schedule precision uses 15-minute slots, such as :00, :15, :30, and :45.

Why the Schedule option may be missing

The Schedule option may be missing when:

  • The AI Tool or workflow does not support scheduling.
  • Required inputs are incomplete or invalid.
  • You are viewing a surface that is not the run form.
  • Billing or entitlement state prevents new billable work.
  • The current feature flag or environment has scheduling disabled.
  • You are looking for recurring Joule tasks, which are not part of this AI Tool scheduling flow.

Try opening the tool's Playground tab, filling the required fields, and checking again.

Scheduled AI Tools are different from Joule tasks

Scheduled AI Tools rerun a saved catalog tool/workflow input on a schedule. Joule chats are conversational sessions. Ampere does not use this AI Tool scheduling flow to create recurring Joule automations.

Where to manage scheduled runs

After creating a scheduled AI Tool run, use the tool's Scheduled tab to view and manage tasks for that tool. You can review timing, status, recent executions, and available actions from the scheduled task details.
