Manage monitors and check history

Learn how to review monitor health and history, run a check, and edit, pause, archive, restore, or resume a monitor.

Use the Monitoring workspace to see which monitors are healthy, review each confirmed check, and control when a monitor should keep checking. A monitor's detail page also keeps its condition, schedule, alerts, and optional Joule follow-up settings together.

Monitoring depends on the source and provider being available. A healthy monitor confirms that checks are returning on schedule; it does not guarantee that every possible change will be detected.

The Checks tab records both detected changes and no-change checks for the monitor.

Find a monitor and review its health

  1. Open Monitoring, then select Monitors.
  2. Search by monitor name or condition when you know what you are looking for.
  3. Use Active, Paused, Needs attention, Archived, or All to narrow the list.
  4. Review the row's Last confirmed check, Health, and open-alert count.
  5. Select the row to open the monitor.

The health label summarizes whether the monitor has a confirmed result on schedule. You may see:

  • Healthy when confirmed checks are arriving on schedule.
  • Awaiting First Check before the monitor has its first confirmed result.
  • Latest Check Failed when the most recent result could not be confirmed.
  • Check Overdue when no confirmed result has arrived within the expected window.
  • Paused, Archived, Setup Failed, or Cleanup in Progress when the monitor's lifecycle needs a different next step.

Open a monitor that needs attention to see the consequence and recommended next step. For an overdue or failed check, review Checks before requesting another check. For a setup problem, use the retry action or edit what the monitor watches.

Use the monitor detail page

The monitor detail page has three sections:

  • Overview shows health, the last confirmed check, open alerts, and the latest Joule follow-up. It also shows what the monitor watches, its project, description, cadence, next check, follow-up instruction, follow-up settings, attachments, and email recipients when configured.
  • Checks shows check requests and confirmed outcomes in time order.
  • Alerts shows meaningful changes found by this monitor and whether each alert is open or resolved.

Use Overview when you need to confirm the saved setup. Use Checks to investigate whether monitoring is running as expected. Use Alerts to review changes and their evidence.

Review check history

Open Checks to see each request and confirmed result. Confirmed outcomes can include Change Found, No Changes, and Failed. A change result can show how many changes were found and link to the corresponding alert. A failed result can include an error message that helps explain what happened.

Each confirmed check also shows its time and available billing context. Depending on processing state, the credit area can show billed credits, pending confirmation, processing, a delayed charge, or that the check was not charged. If billing evidence is still being processed, return later rather than treating the temporary label as the final amount.

A manual request appears as Check requested before a confirmed outcome arrives. Results are not always immediate. If no result is confirmed within 30 minutes, the request is labeled that way in Checks so you can distinguish a delayed result from a completed check.

Run an extra check

When an active monitor needs a fresh result:

  1. Open the monitor and review its recent Checks.
  2. Select Check now.
  3. Review the confirmation. When monitoring billing is active, the dialog explains that the additional check reserves 2 credits and that any Joule follow-up usage is separate.
  4. Confirm Check now.
  5. Open Checks to follow the request until a result appears.

After a manual request, Check now can be temporarily unavailable to prevent repeated requests. Wait for the availability message to clear before trying again. If Ampere cannot confirm that a request reached the monitoring provider, review Checks and use the offered reconciliation action; it checks the current state without repeating the original request.

Edit or pause a monitor

Select Edit to change what an active or paused monitor watches and how Joule follows up. Review the complete setup before saving because changes can affect future checks and follow-up work.

Select Pause checks when you want to stop new checks without moving the monitor to Archived. Its existing check history and alerts remain available. When you select Resume, Ampere starts a fresh baseline check right away. When billing is active, the resume confirmation shows that this first check uses 2 credits.

If cleanup is still in progress after pausing, new checks stop while Ampere finishes the cleanup. Resume becomes available after that work finishes.

Archive or restore a monitor

Archive a monitor when you no longer need it in the active or paused lists but want to keep its record.

  1. Open the monitor's action menu.
  2. Select Archive monitor.
  3. Review the confirmation, then select Archive monitor again.

Archiving stops checks and moves the monitor to Archived. Its alerts and check history remain available.

To start it again, open the Archived filter, select the monitor, and choose Restore. Restoring starts checking again with a fresh baseline, and the first check runs right away. When billing is active, the restore confirmation shows that this first check uses 2 credits.

Confirm the result

After any action, check the status beside the monitor name and the message shown by Ampere. Then use Checks to confirm that a requested, resumed, or restored monitor receives a result. If a check remains delayed, fails, or becomes overdue, follow the guidance on the monitor before requesting another action.
