Overview

OpenAI Image Generator turns a written prompt into one or more generated images using OpenAI GPT image models. Use it when you need visual directions, campaign concepts, ad creative, product storytelling, landing-page art, or social image options from a clear text brief.

Use cases

  • Draft hero image directions for a launch page.
  • Explore ad concepts before handing a direction to design.
  • Create visual options for social posts, email headers, or thumbnail directions.
  • Generate several image candidates from the same brief by increasing output count.

Input tips

  • Include the subject, setting, style, composition, audience, and intended use.
  • Name any required text, brand colors, product details, or constraints that must appear.
  • Choose the model, canvas size, quality, background handling, and output format when those details matter.
  • Use n to request up to 10 images when you want multiple directions from one prompt.
  • Use JPEG or WebP compression only when file size matters; PNG ignores compression.
  • Keep prompts specific and under the configured 32,000-character limit.

Expected output

The AI Tool returns generated images with downloadable URLs and optional content type, file name, file size, width, and height. It also returns model, size, quality, background handling, output format, token usage when available, and cost metadata. The output view renders a single image or gallery plus the main generation settings.

Caveats

  • Prompt wording strongly affects output quality.
  • Model safety rules may refuse or alter some requests.
  • Generated text inside images can still need review.
  • Some background and format combinations are model-dependent.
  • Generated images should be reviewed for brand fit, factual accuracy, and rights-sensitive content.
